fonts not sharp in Vista and Windows 7 with Total Commander
Posted by langbogen on October 21, 2009
I am using Total Commander for a long time now, but unfortunatelly Microsoft introduced Clear Type with Vista and Windows 7 which makes small bold Fonts nearly unreadable (and the other fonts some kind of blurry) even if you run the Clear Type Optimization from the Control Panel.
Turning off Clear Type is also no Solution because many Windows UI Elements will start looking ugly.
So for Total Commander best way is to use “MS Sans Serif” instead of “Microsoft Sans Serif” for all elements.
Update: I switched to Segoe UI,9,b for the file lists and Segoe UI,8,b for the main window because this fonts also has Unicode Support and looks quite good.
